365 days of Cooking!

Picture

Happy New Year! 2011 will be a great year for the stomachs of my friends and family. My past resolutions for the new year have been the usual, mundane stuff everybody makes but never keeps. But this year I decided to do something somewhat attainable. I am going to cook at least one meal each day of the year. It may not be a new recipe or a grand affair, but at least one meal of everyday will be homecooked.

I started the New Year’s off right (well, technically I cooked them New Year’s Eve) with my Mother’s recipe for Black Eyed Peas. I hate all beans, except green beans, but I mean it is tradition.

What is your resolution this year?

My Poor, Poor Garden

Thank you, Texas weather. There is nothing green left in my garden. I think I'll plant cacti next time!

Ugh, Falling off the Blog Wagon.

I still know absolutely nothing about blogging. Even though I want to have a blog for every interest I have, that would take forever and about 10 different blogs! I still don't have any followers and that is a little discouraging, but it won't stop me from continuing to fix up the place. The...

The Garden Of Keesha

My dreams of having a garden were coming true! In March a team from the Big Event helped me outline a plant bed along the side of my house. I planted gladiolas, elephant ear's, and caladiums. But the weather has not been on my side. We are in the midst of a drought and I can't afford to go out...

Kids In The Kitchen

I can even express how much I love to teach kids how to cook. I have to be honest though. I have certain character flaws that led me to get annoyed by repetitive questions, constant interruptions, and dirty work spaces. However, teaching kids to cook has become a theraputic experience. I have...

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day is almost here, and it means more now to me than it has ever before. I started sending care packages and postcards to troops last year, then I found out my cousin was enlisting. I just sent him his 2nd care package. Along the way I have lost touch with some troops because at one...

Happy Mother's Day!

One of the things that never ceases to get on my nerves is how people have told my momma and I how much we look alike. I have never thought that we actually looked much like each other, but I guess it's in the eyes of others. However, there are deeper things that my momma has taught me, that...

Allergies, Allergies Go Away!

Can I please stop sneezing a million times a day, can I breath properly from both nostrils, do I really needs the headaches and itchy throat, or can my itchy watery and red eyes ever feel normal? Can I please water my garden and not to be miserable every time I go outside? Allergies, can you just...

Cooking Fish!

Today a post on a website got me thinking. I only cook catfish. And even then I only fry it. It's time to maybe try something else. So I added a few recipes for fish that you can try at home. Just remember fish is very delicate and very tempermental. You could easily mess it up in the blink of...
